The
sound crew is the custodian is responsible for operating the sound system during
the run of a production.
The crew is may be responsible for
arranging for renting amplification equipment to augment the existing system.
The crew works with the director to
execute the required sound amplification and sound effects for a designated
production.
Typical procedures for a production:
Read the script noting required
sound effects and cues.
Meet with the director or designer
to determine special sound requirements.
May become involved in finding,
selecting, creating, and recording sound effects.
May become involved in selecting
recorded music.
Document the detailed sound cues.
Attend rehearsals to practice
operating the sound cues.
During the run of a production test
and maintain the sound system.
At the end of a production,
properly store sound equipment and supplies.
The sound crew requires at least one
operator who is frequently also a member of the light crew. For complex
productions more than one operator may be required.
